CARAPACE VIDIAM MASK
Contemporary advancements in science and technology are redefining humanity's relationship with the body. The innovations of synthetic biology, advanced prosthetics, and biohacking suggest scenarios of radical physical transformation and redefinition, at both a functional and visual level.
In this direction, Carapace envisions a possible evolution of the human body in which rigid elements, similar to the exoskeletons of insects and crustaceans, integrate with and transform sensory organs: eyes, ears, nose, and mouth.
The collection of Carapace Masks embodies that vision: fossils from the future, artifacts that blur the boundary between natural extension and artificial prosthesis.
The Carapace Vidiam Mask explores a possible evolution of human sight, a transformation caused by the pressures of an overexposed environment and the need for identity concealment as a form of protection.
The geometric patterns that define the design of the Carapace Masks are inspired by the microstructures of the exoskeletons of insects and crustaceans. Biodigitally generated through algorithmic simulations, they differentiates the articulation of the objects by varying and modulating their structure, permeability and structural behaviour.
